On The Sixth Day Of Christmas...

Oh the pressure, the pressure of posting the last 6 days but I'm going to do it because the pics are taken and it took me ages to put them together.  I'm not wasting the effort lol.

I have always loved this dress from Pixel Fashion and have it in brown too.  The hair from Diorsis is something to behold and I'm still trying to work out what's in the cage.  Balls I think and you can't have too many balls I've always said.

OK it's not the sort of thing you'd wear to meet the BF's mother unless she's Vivienne Westwood or Phyllis Diller (only two crazy old birds I could think of), but sometimes I work on the premise that Less is Less.  Really it was a good excuse to bring out the BF lashes for an airing.

Shopping list:

Hair:  Catwalk Blond Cage Hair by Diorsis
Skin:  Jesse Sunkiss Make Up 12 by Belleza
Eyes:  Expressive Eyes in Blue 4 by Nany Merlin
Lashes: Fushia Feather Lashes by Bianca Foulon
Dress:  Tixy Puple Feather Dress by Pixel Fashion
Boa: Bolero Black by Liberte Fashion
Gloves:  Black Fur Gloves by Atelier AM
Stockings:  Candy Star Stockings by Amerie
Shoes:  Audrey Pumps by AlaLee Balut
Earrings:  Retro Glass Chunk Earrings by Shiny Things
Cigarette Holder: by Mika

And before I go, just wanted to say a huge congrats to the winner of Miss Virtual World, Miss Miaa Rebane.  I have to say she looked absolutely stunning in her evening gown.  I could be wrong but I think it was designed by Nicky Ree.  It seriously was the most amazing gown I've seen.  Darling Ella was 4th runner up and I'm thrilled for her.

I managed to catch some of it but due to SL issues and possibly too many ppl in the sims, everyone kept crashing.  I managed to put together a look of 400 ARC without my shoes on.  Didn't need shoes anyway cause my feet were buried in the ground.  I really like this look that I wore.

The dress was from Convoitise called Atsuko courte noir and I thought it was fitting because I won it and other dresses from that label when I placed in last year's pageant.  Skin and hair from LeLutka, jewellery from 24 and hair needle from Mika.

Anyway, till next time :-)

Miss Virtual World 2010 - A Celebration Of SL Creation? It sure is.

The time is nearly here for the crowning of Miss Virtual World 2010. An event not just to reveal how beautiful avatar's can be but to showcase the talents of clothing designers, pose makers, hair, skin, shoe and jewelery creators under one delightful roof.

Love or hate these forms of competition, you can't deny the enormous efforts of the entrants and organizers.  One thing's for sure...people are talking.

Good luck to everyone involved.  Yes there can only be one winner but sometimes when you lose, you win.  Enjoy the experience and remember it's not all about you...it's celebrating the enormous talents of those who helped get you there.

Go Miss Australia.  Buggar....there isn't one.

Miss Virtual World 2010 - is it rude to nude up on stage?

This is the Miss Virtual World in-world kiosk designed by the talented Miss Absinthe Primrose.  I rezzed it on my roof and thought I would share it on my blog because it's really quite gorgeous.  Never able to resist a moment on stage, I nuded up and found a position where my nether regions were covered, popped on some diamond pasties and donned a tiara.  Couldn't find my Miss VW crown from last year  for coming 4th runner up so hope my recent inventory clean out didn't include that.

Of course this is not about me.  It is all about the 23 beautiful finalists who are on the precipice of learning who will become Miss Virtual World for 2010.  For those who don't know, the pageant is scheduled for the 19th of November at 11am at the Patch Thibaud auditorium, the largest 4 sim theatre in SL.

Lovely work Absinthe...it's darling :-)

Power To The Flower

I'm a sucker for a flower.  They make me happy and remind me that someone knew what they were doing when the earth was created.  Have you closely looked at a hoya, a beautifuly formed  rose or smelled the incredible scent of the frangipani?  Nature is where I think real beauty exists.  So feeling some flower power was the order of the day, I searched the wardrobe and found another stunner from Stitch by Stitch titled 'May Shower'.  Seven has done a wonderful job of the bubble skirt which is not easy as I have found with other similar styles...your legs often come out of the skirt but this one is perfect.  This sits really well and I love the flower edging around the decolletage.  Colored flower clusters are strewn around the skirt and the tulle belt adds some whimsy.

Searching for more flowers, I checked through my hat boxes and found a gorgeous coronet of roses and ivy from Gumi's Bad Box.  At that I got a touch of the Ophelia's and raided the jewellery box for more flower adornments.   I couldn't go past Eshi Otawara's Sunflower necklace and earrings.

Like many of you I love a funky pair of socks, tights or stockings and after discovering Pig, I now have my favorite, being the Peacock Socks.  They are so well drawn because the wrinkles, creases and shading are so realistic.  So get some pork on your fork and check out  Pig :-)

My heroine, onyx leshelle, whom I have never met but admire for her ability to recreate RL fashion in SL to an incredible standard via her Maitreya empire, gave these shoes away as a group gift.  They come in a fantabulous array of colors and will come in very handy for mix 'n' matching outfits in the future.

The Shopping List:
Hair:  Deena in Happy Blond from fri
Skin:  Jesse in Sunkiss (Make Up 9) by Belleza
Eyes: Expressive Eyes in Green 2 by Nany Merlin
Dress Incl belt:  May Shower Dress from Stitch By Stitch
Shoes:  Maitreye Group Gift Pumps in Magenta
Stockings:  Peacock Tights by Pig
Hair Piece: Flower Crown by  Gumi's Bad Box
Earrings/Necklace: Sunflower created by Eshi Otawara
Nails: Color 1a from the Nail Station

BTW - I turned up, albeit late, to the press function to introduce the Miss Virtual World finalists.  My primary goal was  to support my friend Ella Quinsette who is Miss UK.  Having represented Australia last year, this competition is close to my heart and Ella Bella was there for me gee'ing me on via IM's that I couldn't miss her moment to shine, and shine she did.  In saying that, all the girls are gorgeous darlings and are deserving winners of the crown.  My personal favorite is Miss Ella however.  I have watched her over the last two years put her heart and soul into modeling and mentoring/upskilling new models and she is just the sweetest thing ever to walk  in two Stiletto Moody's.  Go Ella.  Permit me to indulge in a little Ella love with a piccie I took of her.

Anyway SLovers...have a safe, happy and prosperous week.  Death to all content thieves.  Well a serious maiming perhaps.  Which ever side of the fence you sat during the Artists' Voice and Step Up campaigns, it was lovely to see such passion and in a sense, unity, against those scum bags who steal other people talents.

Miss Virtual World - Who Will It Be?

Competitions in any form bring out the best and worst in people but in SL, they are an entity all of their own.  I have seen some outrageous behavior from entrants in various competitions and I've seriously wondered if the person was 10 years old.  Borrowing Elton John's documentary title, 'Tantrums and Tiara's', it's perfect for what I have witnessed on occassion.  Interestingly though, one competition where I thought prim nails and hair would be flying all over Patch's place was the Miss Virtual World pageant when I was an entrant last year.  Nothing could be further from the truth in my opinion.  I was so pleasantly surprised that we all seemed to be genuinely encouraging  each other and I'd lay my recent holiday tan on the line that behind the computer, the girls weren't gnashing their teeth and swearing like wharfies.  Well if they were, it didn't come across in text or occasional voice.

I think competitions can be lots of fun but the one's that rely solely on avatar beauty where you send in pictures dressed in the organizer's outfits can have even the most mild-mannered person pushing over their Grandma and road testing every photographer in SL.  Linden's are spent hand over fist in the pursuit of the perfect picture...hair, skin, shoes, jewellery purchased just to compliment that outfit you'll never wear again.  I can understand the impulsion but I've learned that the more time and money I invested the more disappointed I was and annoyed at myself when I didn't win which was most of the time.  Anyway I digress.

This post isn't meant to be negative or in any way detract from the Miss Virtual World finalists who when you think of it, cut through some mighty fine competition to reach where they are.  Like or loathe this type of competition, I can tell you first hand that a lot (LOT) of work goes not only into organizing it, but participating.  For that alone, these girls deserve some bravo's and air kisses..

I just wanted to pay homage to the 23 finalists who I know have worked so hard to deliver the best possible product in all of the separate tasks along the way.  I used a texture that Ryker Beck kindly provided on her Rezzable blog, had a dabble in PS, then took it in-world to create 23 Tee's.  I sent them pink one's in respect of Breast Cancer Awareness month with their names and country  on.  Regardless of what you think of MVW, there are 23 people who have put in enormous effort to prepare for this contest.  It does showcase the talents of designers, builders, scripters etc and any event that raises the profile of these people is good in my books.

So here is my little, some may say pathetic, attempt to say GO GIRLS.

Have fun chickie's and remember to put vaseline on your teeth.
