Procrastination Meme Continued

Following on from Strawberry Singh's blog post titled "Procrastination Meme", I'm joining in and sharing 10 random facts about my SLife.  In terms of procrastination, yep, I'm guilty and am trying to work on this in my first life.  I've found since the disasters of 2012, procrastination has become a real problem and must be destroyed.  It doesn't sit well with me because I've always been a highly motivated person so this sense of delaying the inevitable is seriously doing my head in.

Q1 - What is the rez date for your current SL Avatar that you use most often?
Chalice Carling rezzed on 10 October 2007.  She is the only avatar I use.  When I rezzed, I spent two months hiding in the shadows because I had no clue what I was doing but I quickly found the shops and knew immediately that I wanted to take on the role of fashion model.  Slowly I emerged from the dark and have never stopped shopping.  If only I'd left joining until after the 22nd of October, I'd be a Scorpio like I am in RL.

Q2 - Where was the first place you made friends as a newb and got to know people in Second Life?
God I can barely remember it but I think that real friendships were forged on the runway at Evane Modeling Agency (prior to Mimmi Boa taking it over) in early 2008.  I was in a competition whereby you had to spend a lot of time posing on the runway for votes and that's were I met my three favorite people, Vixie Rayna, Jula Carnell and Mimmi Boa.  That's also where I came to realize that there were people in the modeling business who will stop at nothing to try to rip you off - promise the world and deliver nothing.  You'd think we would all know this but when you get caught up in competitions somehow its easy to loose touch with the reality of what is actually going on.

Q3 - Where do you spend most of your SL time now?
In my fabulous Pre-Fabulous home on my island at Minoo.  I wish I could say I was hobnobbing with the rich and (in)famous but no, at the moment I'm a bit of a hermit spending most of my time shopping and blogging.  Fornicola Butuzova makes the most incredible homes in SL by a country mile.

Q4 - Who is your closest friend in Second Life? (only pick one)
Well I have to say my closest SL friend is Vixie Rayna even though I never actually see her face-to-face anymore because I tend to spend most my time in SL blogging.  Like all good friends though, I know she is around and never have to apologize.  She is such a beautiful person and is always concerned about those in her world.  Love ya Vi xx.

Q5 - What is the most favorite thing in your inventory? (only pick one)
I would have to say it is the Chalice necklace given to me on one of my rezz days by Vixie.  I totally treasure it as a reminder of the amazing fun times we used to share.

Q6 - The last thing you purchased in Second Life?
Fatpack of the new Mya skin by Belliza. Thank you for your efforts in creating this gorgeous skin Tricky B.

Q7 - What color clothing does your avatar wear most often?
Hmmmm.  Now I admit to wearing a lot of black but I do love pastel colors and love it when I piece together an outfit from a variety of designers that includes soft and feminine colors.  Actually I love all colors and try to source amazing textures and materials for the clothes I include in my blog.

Q8 - Do you prefer to walk, run or fly?
This makes me laugh.  I just realized I walk nearly everywhere and that I should turn my run on to cover more shopping ground.  I'm a shocking flyer and I give Cha Cha concussion when I'm flying.  That and continual thumping noises I hear if I have my earphones on when I bump into everything. Can I turn that thumping noise off by the way?  It's so irritating.

Q9 - What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done in SL?
Well this was one day in SL that I nearly peed my pants from laughing so hard. Years ago, a lot of top models worked with Impacratrice Breiz of Captured Photography to create SL publications and runway shows etc.  It was a lot of fun over many months and one day Vixie and I rezzed a gazillion dog poo's in Impa's house.  No room was untouched...in the bathroom sinks, kitchen cupboards...everywhere.  We were laughing so much on voice I couldn't breathe.  Needless to say hundreds of dog poo's were returned to my inventory...it was so worth it though for the lol's.

I also had fantastic fun times when I worked for the Arai Modeling Agency (now closed).  That was my training ground for modeling and on my first show I ended up nude, bald and embarrassed walking the runway to comments like - 'omg she's got nothing on'.  Now THAT was funny.  If ever there was a moment I wanted to exit SL, that was it.

Q10 - Who would you like to play YOU, in the movie of your SLife?
Definitely Drew Barrymore...she's hot.

G'day darlings.  Today I have a gorgeous dress for you from the design house of LIV Glam.  Its called the Hannah Trumpet Sleeve Tunic and comes complete with a color HUD to ensure all your color needs are met.  For the sake of these pics, I used the standard size package box available in the folder which is actually a black shoulder bag complete with magazines.  Just wear it and you have a great bag. Please ensure you wear the HUD and on the right hand side, you will find an option to receive your item. Also shown are Magnificent Exclusive's Wood-En Heel in red.

High Pants...Low Energy.

Do you have days in SL when you take pics but nothing seems to look good?  The lighting, even though you've used the same presets before, just doesn't work and you give up that great idea for a white background.  That was me taking this set.  I tried 3 different locations but I just couldn't light my avi properly and went home, faux fur between my legs, opting for the easy life. Grrrrrr.

Anyway, here 'tis.

Today I'm primarily featuring two great designers I came across at the Flawless sim, Shine (pants) and Orquidea (top and hair flower).  Honorable mentions must also go to Kathrin Dassin of Moon Dance Boutique for the amazing nails that actually sit where they are supposed to and Redgrave for the fabulous Nikki Heels that are color change.  I do love the foot on this shoe and I managed the HUD very well.  If you can't find the nail design you want at Moon Dance then you're a whinger who could never be pleased.  Kathrin's note card indicates she will tint the nail glove to your favorite skin if you can't do it yourself which is very 'handy' for me.  Just type in "/1moondance l or /1moondance r" to select both left and right nails and a menu appears to change the designs...so easy.

The Style Card:
Hair: Addison in Marilyn tone by LeLutka.
Skin: Mila in Pearl tone by LeLutka.
Eyeliner: Liquid Eyeliner in Brown by LeLutka.
Lipstick: Mango Tango in Pearl tone by LeLutka.
Nails: Be Mine nails (texture change) by Moon Dance.
Top: Vintage Red Top With Shoulder Bow by Orquidea.
Pants: Highwaist Marlene Pants in Taupe by Shine.
Shoes: Nikki Heels by Redgrave.
Hair decoration: Mechanical Orchid in Red by Orquidea.
Location: That lazy person's place...excuse me if I don't share the LM.

So Cute.

On a recent trip to LeLutka, I came across this magnificent little creature that was not an avi but an attachment to someone.  When they walked off, the little feline followed, sauntering across the pavement. I was too busy camming in to take a photo to do an inspection before they both poofed away and never got to see who created him or her  Look at those cute little spindly legs and melt your heart huge eyes.  Its when you see things such as this, you realize that in SL, our collective imaginations can never be exhausted.

NEWS UPDATE 28.02.13
Thanks to a kind flickr member, I now know this image is taken from Final Fantasy X1 as the character Cait Sith

"(Cait Sith is a mysterious figure who makes her appearance in the opening mission of the Final Fantasy XI expansion Wings of the Goddess. Little is known about Cait Sith at this point, but she is initially referred to as the "Regal Feline".

This is sold on SL Marketplace by Manticore so in actual fact the image is taken from another application and is not from the imagination of a SL creator.  Hmmm I wonder what the original illustrator would say eh?

I Waited...You Never Came.

Thrown back into the single world, my safe little life is a thing of the past.  My thoughts turn to the uncertainty of meeting new people and the fact that you never really know anyone...even those we truly think we do.  While the relationship with me is the best relationship I've ever had, I can't help but wonder what lay ahead.  Will my heart be broken again?  I will have to wait and see...

She waits...

SAS 'n' Bizzare.

Welcome to Chalice In Wonderland, the little blog that battles along trying to give the people who actually make this world so amazing a little leg up. I sometimes think we get so caught up blabbering shit, worrying about unimportant things and wasting time with in-genuine tool bags that it detracts from the beauty that is in every direction.  Come on darlings...keep making, keep seeing and keep feeling the beauty.

Here is a little SAS action in the most divine Purrrrr-ty pink.  Sascha Frangilli kindly sent me the fat pack of Purr and I opted to use only back as the accent color.

Here I'm showing the Empress style skirt but you know Sascha, she supplies so many other options that each dress transforms into something else with the click of a button.

The hair is another blockbuster kick ass style from Bizarra called 'Pollish' and even has it's own cute pair of black stiletto's sitting atop of the bun

Thanks for the lovely dress Sascha.  It's purr-fect for the most discerning pussies in town.

And The Winner Is...Nardcotix and Boho Hobo.

I love Nardya Rousselot's Nardcotix label and am always thrilled to receive a little package in the mail from her.  This time my jaw dropped lower than ever before as I tried on the Miranda wedges in divine blue.  The shortened edgy heel and delicately folded bows at the back make this a very special shoe indeed.

Aren't they simply gorgeous?  At only $520L a pair, these are an investment in style.  Take your pick of black, blue, brown, nude, olive, red and tempered or get the fat pack for only $1,850L.

Trill Zapatero from Boho Hobo recently sent me this amazing crushed velvet coat in claret that is utterly superb.  Trimmed with silver and lovely silver applique buttons, the coat is everything a boho style purist would expect..

Adorable Mesh Skirt From Behold Designs.

Drum roll please...this is the first piece of mesh clothing I've ever worn.  Talk about late on the uptake but better late than never I suppose.  What prompted me to finally go to the mesh side and download V3 was reading EnCore Mayne's blog (here) sharing her new creation, the polka dot mesh skirt.  I just loved the pattern and shape of it and immediately TP'd to her store, Behold Designs, to get me one.

Never underestimate the power of a little skirt on those around you.  This is ever so sexy and I love the asymmetrical aspect of it that cleverly uses the polka dots to create added dimension.  This skirt is not rigged so can be modified as opposed to modifying your shape for the rigged mesh clothing pieces.  This gives you carte blanche to tint your skirt.  EnCore indicates she will be selling this for $300L but when I purchased it, it was a mere $150L.

I set about building up a look from the skirt and visited Le Poppycock where I purchased a top called  Le Tanque.  I then had a bit of fun at Tee*fy shopping for accessories and found Anya's Pico Mofumofu scarf with dangling embellishments at either end and My Lunch Bag shown here in blue and brown hues.

I opted for my favorite Arch Boots in 2 tone nude kindly sent to me by Fashionboi Lander from the House of Fox..  Also shown: Hair - Starlight in Essence from Vanity Hair; Skin - Claudia 2 Milky Glow from LAQ; Eyes - Pale Steel Blue from Fashism; Watch - Cashmere; Earrings - Antonia from DeLa; Nails - Pixel Mode

Thank you for throwing me from the comfort of my V2 nest and into the V3 unknown EnCore. I so wanted that skirt and I'm so glad I took the plunge.  I love this viewer and it actually works better for me.  Great job darling.

Nardcotix Takes Over Second Life.

Nardya Rousselot makes stunning shoes., there's absolutely no disputing that.  How lucky are we that she has expanded her Nardcotix label to include the most amazing dresses and hats on the grid.  I spied them at Modavia Fashion Week and was utterly impressed with what I saw but when I received them one morning when I logged on (thanks Nardya x), upon closer inspection on Chal's body, well they are even more beautiful than in the pictures.  Her talents in millinery are unrivaled in my opinion and I take great pleasure in showcasing her work.

SL Is Broken :-(

Oh woe is me! I've been itching to blog some of my favorite things but SL just won't play nice. I'm torn because I want to use shadows and the like to add ambiance to my pictures so I'm digging my heels in and persevering with it but its taking soooooooooo long.

So please bear with me as I bear with SL.

She eats, ROOTS and leaves. New LeLutka Hair.

Personally wanted to send a big thumbs up to LeLutka's new ROOTS hair line. Love it to pieces ladies and I can't help but sit back and contemplate how far SL has come in terms of hair creation. When I think about the first lot of hair I purchased in 2007, the comparison is amazing. I'd been AWOL for a bit and Vixie Rayna urged me to go have a look at the new roots hair as quick as I could. I'm so glad I did because I just love the subtlety on the crown.  This is just one of a few styles available.

Bouquet for LeLutka.

Blogger Bashing.

I'm a glass half full kinda gal and as I've gotten older, have come to realize that things are never quite what they seem. I have learned to stand back and take a look at different perspectives before I make up my mind. I used to be entirely the opposite and would make snap judgments as quick as look at you. When I say this shift has opened up a whole new world, I'm not joking. I can listen to one side of an argument walking away with a certain mind set then hear the other side and I've reanalyzed my position yet again. Some say this is sitting on the fence. Not true I say. Sitting on the fence in my opinion is when someone makes their mind up and won't be swayed even when evidence is presented to the contrary. People with strong and rigid opinions often have the ability to attract others to their cause a bit like the Pied Piper but that doesn't mean they are right just because they have a large following.

I felt compelled to comment on the current distension in the blogging world between The Rumor and certain people who have taken umbrage about some comments left by Rumor writer's that were, let's be honest, in bad taste. The thing about taste however is everyone's is different. Two camps appear to have emerged from this and you only have to read the comments from both to see how opinions widely diverge.

There have been a number of blogs over the years that have built their reputation by being opinionated, sarky and blunt yet I can't recall such a public backlash as I've seen with The Rumor. The comment that had racist connotations and the one questioning if someone was still alive were uncalled for because in my opinion they had nothing to do with promoting the products and they were just plain nasty. They were understandably called on this and Pennelope Thiessam attempted to clear up the controversy. Whether one agrees with the genuineness or sincerity of her statement, she did take the time to address the issue in a public forum. Primarily I'm really concerned in respect to a persons freedom of expression being shut down because some influential people don't like the essence of the blog.

I find The Rumor a really handy tool to suss out who is selling what at discounted prices and while I think they've got some nerve bagging products they haven't even purchased or tried on, it is their right to do it, say it, express it. Everyone who puts anything into the public domain must be prepared for criticism as well as praise. Pennelope and the others are dealing with this right now as it's par for the course when you make controversial comments. The same goes for those who make things in SL for money. You put it out there then you had better be prepared for some form of critique whether it's a snarky one liner under a picture or a well constructed review of your creation.

There are no right or wrong blogs. There are situational unacceptable comments that cross the line in terms of inappropriateness that breaches laws or the Charter of Human Rights. When that occurs, the author(s) must be taken to task, as they have, but not liking a blog because it ruffles the wrong feathers, well that's when you should keep scrolling past.

I guess what I'm saying is by all means be angry at those comments just don't use that one situation as an excuse to destroy a person.

Diabla by Lynx...The Shoe That Keeps On Giving

I'M BACK. Happy Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy SLife. It's been ages since we chatted and I've had the most wonderful Christmas ever. Santa's sack was full, we ate and drank like there was no tomorrow and we got a new puppy. He's just to die for and I'm so happy and grateful I get to spend my life with him. Isn't he just adorable?

Now on to my post....

The amazing Anya Bombastic from Linx shoe fame dropped these amazing pair on me called Diabla. I'm sure she thought I would never get around to blogging them; however, I have been trying to get them up on the site for ages. I love Linx shoes and the HUD Anya uses is oh so easy to operate. You can buy her shoes on the SL Market Place and I've included the link to make it easy to get your hands, no your feet, in Linx shoes.

These Diabla shoes come in seven color changes in the HUD in addition to other options to play with such as heel colors and metal hardware changes. Stunning foot and toes with some gorgeous nail colors to choose from. LOVE THEM Anya.

Such is their superb quality and design, they deserved the full blogging treatment so I styled a range of outfits to show them off, hopefully to their best. In case you like anything in the shots, I've provided style notes for each outfit.  Click pic for more detail.
