It's A Beautiful Day...Don't Let It Slip Away.
I must be the luckiest girl in the world. Every time I visit new web site's, I'm ALWAYS the 1,000,000th visitor.
I just wanted to show you my new chair. I first saw it in The Dressing Room Blue and had to have it. Upon inspection, I headed to Yasuki Beck's LP2 interior to snap it up. Amazing furniture and ultra low prim which amazes me because it all looks as if it would be prim heavy. I love this chair and matching rug called 'Old Stripe'.
I also TP'd to Fancy Scrabblebat's new store, ::Shopaholic's Anonymous:: situated at Malt. You can read Fancy's wonderful blog, So Called Second Life here. Fancy has a pose pack for sale at 50L's and is hard at work making more. Unreal poses folks so keep Shopaholic's Anonymous in mind for your pose needs. The Starbucks coffee, newspaper and glasses on the floor were made by Ms Fancy and her shop is full of fun.
This is my most favorite photo of Chalice. I just managed to take it as she blinked so the effect is just perfect.

I'm Such A Poser.
I want to share a little secret with you that was actually shared with me by the adorable Barbarella Fuosing one day. Thank you hun. I wanted a really easy pose hud that I could wear and be able to fill with hundreds of my model poses to use anywhere in SL. She told me about Kru Flan's Anim Preview Hud available at Kru's Boutique for only 1L. This hud is so simple and convenient, I just can't get by without it now. The hud holds no more than 100 poses but because it's copy, you can make a load of them depending on how many poses you have. You drop the hud to the ground and just drop them in (no more than 100 though). Wear it and a little box comes up on the screen that actually names each pose. You just press play and then click forward or back arrows.
I have 6 separate huds that I alternate between. I also have more for sitting poses, moving poses, laying poses and silly poses. What I love is the fact that the hud window is so small and doesn't interfere with the screen. I'm sure you all have your own system of shooting around SL for your blogs but I have found this to be the easiest thing ever and it just doesn't matter what location I'm in, it always works. My 1L outlay has paid for itself a gazillion times over in terms of being organized.
So if you've been looking for a system to take the headache out of photographing yourself, this is it. Go visit Kru's Boutique. When you land there, look for her shop that specifically says POSES and click this sign shown below.
If you don't come back to my blog saying 'omg Chalice may I lick your feet and feed you a grape' I'll send you a set of steak knives.
Kru Flan get's my SL Resident Of The Week Award. It would also be remiss of me not to mention her wonderful poses, clothes and a plethora of other items for sale in her shops.

Blessed Are The Pose Makers
Yes I know this has already been blogged and it may seem that I'm lagging badly, pardon the pun, but the recent pose sale at Niqotine Pose Store got me thinking about poses. I have had a love/hate relationship with them since I first learned to walk, literally, in SL. When I think about the amount of $L's I have spent on huds, AO's, walks and poses in the past only to get home and find some of them dud's. Or perhaps that was me? Yes I think I've contributed a fair amount of 'duddage' to the art of movement in SL but eventually I learned what was good, bad and plain ole ugly.
I do have a weakness for poses and when you think about it, for anyone who models, blogs or just loves taking pics of themselves, poses are an integral part of our expression. I personally love poses that closely resemble RL catwalk stances...like when a model walks, stops briefly, looks mean and then turns for the walk back. I'm always watching the European fashion shows on Foxtel and keep a keen eye on the models silhouettes.
Dropping in to Niqotine the other day paying $1L a pose, I was really impressed with them and took some shots on my roof (see below). I certainly got value for money for what I believe are quality poses. I then wondered about what makes good and bad poses in SL and having had a crack at Qavimator, I realize that a lot of work must go into good poses and particularly, moving poses. My attempts were nothing short of spectacular in that I managed to make myself look like a scarecrow once I brought them in-world. Anyone got any corn they want protecting??????
Some of my favorite poses have been from:
Of course there are a gazillion more pose makers that are doing wonderful stuff. I just picked a few of my favs that came to mind. One of my pet hates is losing my ass when I use a sitting or bending pose and I'm sure you all know what I mean unless you have a JLo butt and then I'd like to see what happens to it. The number of times I have to use PS to put my ass back when using some poses just makes me thankful it was invented.
Anyway thank you Niqotine for selling such great poses so cheaply. They will become firm faves when I want something different. I popped over there just prior to posting this and the sale was still going.
Pose makers I salute you because you offer an essential SL service by creating color and movement.
