SLimed.

I do so love lime.  In my Corona's, in my mojito's and on my body.  I found these low ride, low crutch beauties at Legal Insanity the other day.  Perusing the clothes in all the rooms I was struck and impressed by the beautiful presentation of the way they market their label.  In terms of the vendor posters, they give it to you on a gold platter.  Their style from top to toe is gorgeous.

I went off looking for something to wear with them and found this cutie of a top at So Many Styles.  Because they literally have so many styles, I purchased the bag, earrings and necklace too.  I purchased the butterfly hair accessory from one of my fave's, Tram.

The hair is a voluminous up-do from Miss C. While I love to wear my hair long, I do love to show off earrings so am always looking for hair that allows me to do this.  The boots are from Maitreya called 'August Ankle Boots' shown in the grey color.

I've been reading with interest on Plurk people asking 'what do you want to know about me?'  Being one who fears rejection and an empty non-replied Plurk, I haven't participated but I'll share two.

  1. I collect jim-jams (aka as pajamas).  I have about 50 tops and bottoms because I LOOOOVE to come home and get into them.  I'm a bit like the Aussie female version of Hef but I stress without the white socks. And they're not daggy drab PJ's.  They're fabulous colored one's that I can co-ordinate.  In RL I really truly do love fashion and shopping while at home I'm super casual but am a quick change if anyone rings and says 'hey let's go out'.  If my hair's not looking too good I pop it up in a chignon, take 15 minutes for make up, a quick spray of perfume and I'm off.  I can do it because I have two walk in robes that I keep in perfect order and a wall of shoe racks in boxes with a pictures of the shoes on the front.   Thanks mum for turning the once chaotic me into a neat freak.
  2. I collect perfumes.  Ever since I saw the movie 'Someone To Watch Over Me' and the magnificent glass perfume cabinets in Mimi Rogers' dressing room, I dreamed of having a cabinet filled with perfumes.  I got my wish when I renovated my bathroom and found this wooden and glass cabinet which over the years I have filled with perfumes.  People know that is my thing and have given them as presents and many I have purchased duty free when traveling.

My absolute weakness.
Anyway sweeties, remember to keep supporting SL designers so we can keep being beautiful.

"Play Misty For Me Donna Flora"

Having recently heard that one of SL's most favorite and loved designers, Squinternet Larnia from Donna Flora, has been seriously struggling with her heath for some time now, I wanted to dedicate two posts to her entirely - top to toe.  This was a way in which I could purchase items from Donna Flora which in turn assists Squinternet in a small way and to use my blog to encourage others to also support her during such a difficult time to buy up big also.

I've included a link to the Love Donna Flora event blog and the Love Donna Flora Flickr page where you can show off your Donna Flora finery and a message to Squinternet which I'm sure will cheer her up.  You can also make a donation on the blog itself.  Coupled with an influx to her store to buy her fantastic clothing and the 'donation' option on the blog, here's hoping that the money raised will assist her in some small way toward what must be huge medical bills.  Keep track of the blog to find out when upcoming events are scheduled between the 25th of July to the 11th of August.

The lovely Monica Outlander of Miamai fame sent out an informative note card explaining Squinternet's current condition and has been helping move vendor poster's to Squinternet's new store (here) and also to a satellite shop at Miamai (here).   It really is so touching to see people helping people in need which SL seems to do well and thanks to Monica for advocating on Squinternet's behalf so we can in fact help.

I'm dressed in Donna Flora from head to toe wearing this ultra feminine outfit called 'Misty' that includes the glow mesh inspired top, floaty skirt and belts.  The watch and beautiful ring you see are a small taste of the amazing talents of Squinternet designing jewellery.

The hat of all hats, necklace and earrings all have the hallmark of the the beauty that is Donna Flora.

As if that isn't enough, these divine shoes called 'Jesse' shown in Blush are also available from Donna Flora.  I love this whimsical outfit that sums up for me what her label is about.

I send you all the positive affirmations I can muster Squinternet - you are the doyen of Diva in my book.

I'm Not Up The Creek Without A KANOU!

Hello lovelies.  Before I run off to hospital tomorrow, I just wanted to get in this post for KANOU.  These sexy, barely there tops leave very little to the imagination but why make anyone wonder?  I'm loud and proud of what mah momma gave me.  Yeah I know, LL and Tuli may be my momma's but what the heck.

I've only shown three of the colors available of the 'Grace' top.  There are six in total - blue, coral, green, purple, pink and grey.  Me loves them KANOU and thank you for sending them.

I also wanted to point out this lovely bracelet from Pixel Box.  Let me tell you they are having a sale and their items are super cheap.  This is called the 'Thematic Zodiac Bracelet' and as you can see, I'm wearing my RL zodiac sign Scorpio.  You could wear your zodiac sign on one band and that of your beloved on the other.  You can change the top and bottom signs by touching the bracelet.  Pixel Box have some fantastic items so go check it out.

The cute little bum bag holding my smokes and lipstick is from NCparis Designs.  My goodness that shop is full to brimming of fabulous fashion.

Here's hoping I can continue blogging whilst in hospital but I'm not sure how the lappie will perform so if I can't, I'll be back soon.  Don't miss me?  Yes please miss me, just a little :-)

There's Nothing Beige About Beige.

Well I have to say I love this look because of the wonderful detail in both the top (Tram) and shorts (Zenith).  There's an earthy femininity to it.

I love the folds and draping of the materials that work so well together.  I always try to look for this in the clothing I buy because it adds dimension to the overall look.  Today Chalice feels pretty.

The Meme Of All Meme's - Why Do I Blog??????

Hey it's Berry Meme Monday don't ya know!  I love this one about blogging so thought I'd share the space where it all happens.

So here are my answers -

1. How long have you been blogging?
I started Chalice In Wonderland some time in 2008 then stopped.  I resurrected it in July 2009.  Half of me loves doing it and the other half worries about the time I spend doing it thinking I could be devoting time to something else.  I reason however, that its a creative outlet because I have a RL job that requires an entirely different persona.

2. Why did you start blogging?
I initially started it when I was a contestant in Miss Virtual World representing my home country, Australia.  I wanted to share the journey which I did but at the time my ex-husband was getting pissy about me being in SL so I quit.  I took it up again in 2009 because I really did need a little me time and it did help me unwind for an hour or two in the evening.  I figured my ex-husband loved to watch sports on TV so I could have a Second Life. lol.  I used to be very mindful about the time I spent doing SL things but now I'm single, its not the issue it once was.

3. How many times a week do you post an entry?
Probably around 5 to 6 times a week.  I do fluctuate depending on spare time and inclination.

4. How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis?
Gawd it would have to be a lot.  Not sure of numbers but I do have a lot of favorites.  I use the feeds to keep up with who's doing what.

5. Do you comment on other people's blogs?
Yep I sure do.  I love to receive comments and I love to give them for posts I appreciate.  Lets face it, we don't blog hoping no one will read it, so validation from time to time is nice.  I also get a buzz when designers come on and let you know they know you've blogged their items.  I think as a community it would be great if we could give encouragement to each other through comments.

6. Do you keep track of how many visitors you have?
Yes via my counter, Blogger stats and Feedjit widget.  I unfortunately lost my original counter so have started again.  I wish I had more visitors though but that's just me being greedy.

7. Did you ever regret a post that you wrote?
Yes...on my original blog I got involved with something I never should have and it kind of blew up in my face.  That taught me to really think about what I post and not use my fashion blog as a soap box for SL issues that really don't concern me.

8. Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog?
This is a hard one.  I don't think I really put myself out there in either life so probably not.  The open book I initially was in SL has closed to a certain extent and I mainly focus on promoting fashion items and designers.  One of my favorite bloggers is Emerald Wynn and I really love how she perfectly mixes her SL avi exploits and RL persona into her blog.  It's an interesting format but she's a wonderful writer and commentator on life in general which is why it works so well.

9. Do you blog under your real name?
My SL real name but not my real real name. lol

10. Are there topics that you would never blog about?
The traditional ones like politics and religion...no, no, never.  I wouldn't blog about other people's choices in SL or expose anyone.  Its just not me dishing any dirt so yes, anything controversial I steer away from.   BUT I have an admission.  I do like a bit of muck raking so perhaps I'm as bad as those that do it.

11. What is the theme/topic of your blog?
Basically just showing off fashion items and talking about those who design them.  I find it funny that while so many other blogs support all these events/charities/causes etc., I just keep on buying clothes and blogging about them.  The pressure I'd feel in being an official blogger for 'blah, blah' would be too much for me to handle I think.  I'd be nervous I wouldn't do them justice.

12. Do you have more than one blog?  If so, why?
No only this one.

13. What have you found to be the benefits of blogging?
Well for me it's certainly not getting the drum on new releases or free clothing?  That's a rarity for me.  I think the benefits are creating looks from random pieces and trying to make them appealing.  Whether I'm successful, well that's not for me to say.

14. So why do you continue to blog?
Because there's nothing else I can do in SL.  I wouldn't know the first thing about actually designing a clothing item and I don't build...I just dress my dolly.  To me its essentially role playing being a clothes horse  Boring as shit aren't I?  lol

With all the penis talk going on at the moment, I thought I'd add to the drama and wear my COCK top.  Cock-a-doodle-do darlings.

The Givers Of SL

I had a really good time putting this together.  Half my attention was on purchasing pieces and the other on discovering some new places I hadn't been before.  In amongst that I was perusing the feeds and thought I'd mention two people and their blog who really add such positivity to our blogging community.  Casja Lillihook and Gidge Uriza's blog, It's Only Fashion, take the time to give credit to bloggers when they feel their artistry and creativity deserve merit.  I think its a lovely idea and I really enjoy their 'Fast Five' posts immensely. With so much going on in SL and the vast amount of information that bombards us, its so easy to miss some really special posts.  Their commentary makes me stop a moment and appreciate the talents among you all that in all sorts of ways, keeps me interested and engaged in SL.  Bravo Casja and Gidge.  I think that giving out bouquet's says a lot about the people that you are.

Now on to my outfit.  Oooo ahhhh, I'm in love with the top (Celoe) and pants (ElyMode) in this ensemble.  I don't know what Elysium Eilde of Elymode does with her textures because they are so polished and perfect.  All of her clothing are distinctive in that her entire collection is cohesive and you know it's Elymode.  To me this is quite rare in SL, because I don't often see a piece and know immediately who designed it.  She also creates awesome eye make up among many other things so even more reason to visit.

The ultra feminine mesh top is called 'Rhonda' from Celoe.  I love the russet colors and waist bow which like all Celoe items, sits so perfectly on the body and screams quality.

The bag, necklace and hair band are from Tram...I swear I can't stay away from that shop.  The shoes are the latest release from Maitreya Gold called 'Suave' which they certainly are.

From the feeds, I noticed this wonderful sim called 'Small Town Green' and headed there to take my snaps.  Seriously beautiful and well worth the time to slowly explore all the nooks and crannies.

Oh and I changed my blog interface just for a change.  Wish I was more creative because I know how I want it to look but can't quite get it there...YET.

Are you all looking forward to Monday?  Maybe Berry has another Meme for us??????

Do You Ever Think Of Me?

This is a post featuring the work of 7 Deadly Skins and the new release Spring mesh dress from KANOU.  Both are fabulous and I hope you like the styling.

Look 1 shows Chalice wearing Vanity skin in Tone 1 from 7 Deadly Skins and the Eva dress in blue and red by KANOU

In look 2 Chalice is wearing Envy skin in Tone 2 and the Eva dress in purple and yellow.

These skins are seriously great and the attention to detail particularly on the legs, hands and torso is amazing in my opinion.  Go grab yourself a demo, go home, stand on a pose stand and see for yourself.

I'm loving the sweet as pie Spring dresses from KANOU.  Apart from what I've shown, the other colors are pink/blue, green/purple, brown/green and blue/gold.  I mean that's six combinations to choose from!  I could be wrong, but I think the flowers are delicate pansies so what could be more SPRING than that?

Well that's it for now precious one's.  Go, go, go check out 7 Deadly Skins and KANOU.

A spot of shopping anyone?

I Just Wanna Feel This Moment.

Please excuse my rather picture laden post but I wanted to show you my look and some different scenes from the beautiful sim, Natural Mignon Colore.  The label Natural has its home base there so not only do you get to enjoy their wonderful clothes and adornments, you get to explore one of the most delightful landscapes where attention to detail abounds.

The hair decoration I'm wearing called 'Promise' was purchased from Natural.  I love the whimsical quality to it.  It was so cheap I practically stole it.

I've put together a real mixture today which centered around my new 'Bound' pants from ASS.  You haven't lived until you put some ASS on your ASS.  They're different and can be played down by removing the upper leg band and/or the lower leg attachments.

I took the top and thin belt from an outfit from Chantkare called 'Tricot'.  I adore the functional bag from Maitreya and gravitate to it often.  The cute little pointy toe flats are from Tram and have feather pom pom embellishments on each side.  I'm wearing another do from Tram called 'A810' in Creamy Yellow.

I just want to say for the gazzilionth time that its so wonderful to have such pretty hands thanks to SLINK.  The nail color is from the Lustre hud from ASS.

Finding sims like this in SL are the days that remind my why I keep playing Barbies.  Now if only I could find me a Ken.

CAPITAL H.I.ME

Hoi ya.  In RL I have an eye brow and nose piercing and I realized that I hadn't given Chalice any such facial jewelery to date so when I found this unusual lip piercing at ASS, I snapped it up.  ASS have been serving various items to sub cultures in SL since 2008 and a trip to their store is an experience especially for the guys as they are well catered for there.

I also realized that I hadn't been shopping at one of my favorite stores, Chantkare, in ages.  I popped by and purchased this rather voluminous black dress with funky checkered tights called 'Manny'.

I'm wearing my SLINK hands with new release SLINK avatar enhancement nails from ASS.  There are some amazing colors and patterns so stop by and soak in the fabulous talons.  I defy SLINK hand wearers not to buy any.

Another store I hadn't visited for ages is Aoharu where I purchased these Fringe Sweed Sneakers from their Annex label.  They come in some great colors and the cute fringing with beads set them apart from your average sneaker.

I am absolutely in love with the hair selection from Tram.  I find it so realistic and NEARLY have all of the styles created by Moca Loup, Tram's designer.  I know a lot of the time I love to wear impossibly long, straight hair in SL possibly because I lust after this in RL, but so many of Tram's shorter styles are quite amazing and frame the face so beautifully.  A little word of advice, all hair is set to size 40 head so if you don't want to stretch it, merely set your head shape to that size. I hope Ms Loup keeps designing hair because I can't wait to see what she comes up with next plus her clothing is amazing. In RL I have blond hair (yep via a bottle) that is past my shoulders with tight kiss curls.  I swear that the older I get the more curls appear and the tighter they are.  I used to straighten it but now I just go with the flow and the time I save just leaving it dry naturally is a god send not to mention the condition of my hair has improved no end.

Before I say adieu, I wanted to remind people that unfortunately for us, Morgane Batista Poses will be closing soon.  In a recent note card, Morgane advised that she has put out 4 boxes in the store containing a load of unseen poses for L$300 per box.  I purchased 2 boxes and believe me, there's a heap of great poses in there...sorry I was too lazy to count them.  So if you're looking for something different, I suggest you go get them before its too late.  Apart from these boxes, there are a plethora of other poses for sale so don't leave it too late to grab yourself these wonderful poses.  Its always sad to see someone's shop close so I wish her all the best in the future.

Ok, here's the business end:

Another Meme...Fashion Blogging

As I mentioned a few posts back, I have been wanting to start at Meme about blogging practices to get to know you better but also I'm interested in how you prepare and what inspires you.  My interest arises from the fact that there are so many interesting SL blogs that I appreciate out there and I'd love to know what goes on 'behind the scenes'.  Interesting blogs equals interesting people. When I see styling that is amazing, I wonder what process the blogger goes through to get that look.  Or how long it takes one to create a post from beginning to end.  Or why some blogs are more popular than others and whether you think other forms of social media are important in self promotion.

I'd love for you all to participate.  Just cut, paste and delete my answers.  YAY.  Oh and put a link in my comments so I can read them.

1.  Blog Name?
Chalice In Wonderland.

2.  Blog URL?
http://chalicecarling.blogspot.com.au/

3.  How long have you been blogging?
Since July 2009.

4.  Why did you become a blogger?
For me it was a natural progression from modeling in SL.  I wanted to show off fashion and styles I liked to a wider audience. I mean standing in my SL home looking at my new purchase is not very stimulating.

5.  How would you describe your blog?
My blog is centered around SL fashion more than anything else.  While I sometimes express an opinion on SL happenings, I feel more comfortable sharing the positive aspects of SL fashion, although, I wish I could think of more to say.  I love blogs that have a mix of both fashion and social commentary.  I don't critique designers because I won't blog what I don't like but I do appreciate bloggers who do.

6.  What process do you go through when styling an outfit for your blog?
Because I don't blog for any label or designer, I purchase most of what I post unless a designer connects with my blog and sends me something.  I usually find a piece of clothing that resonates, put it on and then start to build from there.  I'm often seen TP'ing across the grid partly dressed looking for accessories.  I find that works for me because I can gauge color, patterns etc while I'm wearing the key item.  When I'm happy with the entire look, I save it and head out to a location or my photo backdrop on the roof to take my pictures.  I save the photo's to my computer and then open them up for photo processing.

Sometimes a look comes quickly and sometimes I scour every store I know to find that right accessory.

7.  How long does it usually take you to prepare a post?
I'm getting much quicker these days.  I'd say on average it takes me 3 hours for each post.

8.  How do you promote your blog?
I am syndicated to a few SL feeds but wish it were more.  I have been applying but it seems that no-one is home. lol.  I also post when I blog in Plurk, add my posts to Moolto and Pixel Fashion Group in world.

I'll be honest...I am disappointed that my blog isn't more popular after so many years but its my fault because I don't network enough.  I have become more insular in SL than I used to be and only pop my head up every now and then.  I think this is reflected in my readership and general interest in my blog.  I do dedicate a lot of time to it and sometimes wish I felt that it had a purpose and relevance in the blogging world.  That probably says more about me than anyone else.  It's probably the fact that I suffer depression and often internalize silence as no one cares.

9.  Are readers comments important to you?
Yup...I love to get comments.  It just validates the work one puts in.

10. I always get excited when I see a blog post from.....?
Shopping Cart Disco's SL Secrets.  I never have a clue who they're about but I love the comments left nonetheless.  I admit it, I love a bit of drama from the sidelines.

10. What do you think it takes to achieve a successful blog?
I guess this is really subjective because what denotes a successful blog but I'm sure most of us do it hoping for as wide a readership as possible?  I think it takes good networking skills and the ability to remain fresh and relevant.
