City Glam by Sascha's Designs

The mix and match options consistently offered by Sascha Frangilli from Sascha's Designs are undoubtedly value for money when you look at these different looks I've put together from her new release outfit called 'City Glam'...yes girls.  One outfit!

Chalice was dating from one end of the globe to the other and apart from her toothbrush and undies, only had to pop the City Glam box in her carry on luggage.  She's always off the plane first because she travels First but despite priority check through, she didn't have to wait at the carousal.  Off the plane and into lover boy's arms in 10 minutes all thanks to Sascha's Designs.

Saying goodbye and going back to work always makes her cry.

The Tik Tok Rita Make Up Range

I did want to mention that in this photo set I used the wonderful Tik Tok make up combination designed by Miah McAuley for those with Viewer 2 capabilities. She has created a nude skin called Rita in various tones. To use with Rita, Miah has opened up a world of color for the lips, eye make up and even the runny mascara look that I personally love. The options are simply endless BUT despite all the choice, this entire range is excellent...like wonderful quality.  I had so much fun putting together the combination's.  Entire body care at it's very best in my opinion.  Stunning job Miah and I strongly, STRONGLY encourage you to go demo.

I Support Pink Hijab Day Too.

Having traveled to Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Jordan, I developed a deep appreciation of Muslim people and their Islamic faith. I always read Syngen Sohmers' blog Sakinah who is the owner and designer of Sakinah selling Middle Eastern clothing for the fashionable Muslim women and also for non-Muslim women.

Syngen promoted Pink Hijab Day on her blog (read here) and Monica Outlander from Miami Fashion Creations created a pink Hijab in support of this worthy cause involving Breast Cancer Awareness. Syngen explains it best so please do hop on her blog and read what the impetus behind this day is all about. Regardless of any other peripheral issues, women supporting women's issues is at the heart of this campaign and I for one think it's wonderful.

As suggested by Syngen, I visted the OnIslam sim where a lovely guy showed me around the Mosque and provided me with a link to the Qur’an. I was also able to listen to it via head phones and read some of the Qur’an in English in a book laid out in front of me.   It's a beautiful, peaceful sim and I'm so glad I visited and became friends with my unofficial guide.  I met a 'Sister' there and she welcomed me back anytime.  It was such a lovely hour I spent there.

I think Chalice looks her most beautiful wearing this Hijab and I can certainly understand how one would feel very feminine and in touch with their femininity. Difficult to explain but even virtually wearing it, I could feel the allure. This Hijab is the one made by Monica from Miami. Go get one...they're free.

I took these photo's at the Middle East sim and while it might seem a little cliche that I chose this rather obvious scene, my experiences with Islam were in the Middle East and in my opinion, some of the most beautiful places on earth.

I adorned my Hijab with butterfly's as I felt they represented what is underneath the veil...a beautiful woman.

Chalice On The Couch With Dame Edith Ogleby

Oh what a thrill! My first visitor and Royalty no less.

This is what I've been waiting for. Learning about other residents, finding differences and commonalities among us. Dame Edith Ogleby is not your average Second Lifer as you'll see by her pics but she has a personality that pops right out at you. She's not all skin and bones like Chalice but we share a love of hats. Big hats. In honor of the Grande Dame, I ferreted out my most ornate hat to join in her chorus...MAKE MORE HATS.

Please welcome, Dame Edith Ogleby and her little dog, Sammy Davis Junior Junior.

Name: Dame Edith Ogleby

Born: March 23, 2010 (but I've been around just over a year on a "normal" avatar)

Who I am: The Grande Dame, grandmother to many (I seem to leave every concert I go to with yet another person claiming to be my grandchild!).

What I do: I explore a lot and enjoy finding interesting places and seeing what trouble-... I mean.... adventures I can get into. I enjoy visiting art galleries and also frequent live music shows. I also wear hats whenever possible.

What I love: Music, art, fashion sales, and pleasant, intelligent conversation. Also, my dog Sammy Davis, Junior Junior (not a typo!). Oh, and hats.

What I want: More fashion designers in Second Life that make nice clothing for those of us that don't fit the skinny, eternally young avatar. Also... more hats. Many, MANY more hats. And I don't mean 2783 variations on what you can stick in the brim of a top hat. I mean huge, glorious physics-bending works of art for my head.

What I want you to know: Second Life is a world where anything and anyone can happen. Here one can sprout wings, suck blood, become a ferret in a tuxedo, or prematurely age to be a feisty old lady. You will meet people from all over the world who are alongside you in this adventure - and that is such a gift. Be nice to strangers and bring joy to those around you! Remember to have FUN and not take it all so seriously!

What a delightful person.  Do make sure you say hi if you see the Dame around the grid.  Now if only we could get Dame Edna Everage into SL I'm sure they'd have lots in common.  I sure see a resemblance.

Remember if you want to be on my couch, answer the questions above and send me some pics in world (1024 x 1024 max).

Three Things I discovered Today.

1. I can't connect to the Fashion Planet feed. Is it dead? For 3 years I've been trying to get on that feed and now it appears defunct. What will I do now that can't keep checking to see if he got my e-mail?

2. LeLutka is closed for maintenance and just when I needed a new color of Saffron Pumps to go with an outfit. Please open soon or I'll cry so hard.

3. I have fallen even more in love with Chantkare than I thought possible. Doesn't matter what I buy, be it full price, discount or freebie, it always makes me go weeeeeeeee (while jumping on the spot and clapping my hands. Never leave Chalice....please.

Look at this re-release of Chantkare's Argyle Mini in lime that was a steal. Seriously clever construction.

Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival

One of the popular set of events on the Australian fashion calendar is the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival incorporating the Melbourne Cup and Crown Oaks Day also known as Ladies Day. Oaks Day is a time honored tradition where women take the opportunity to express their own signature style as Flemington hosts one of the world’s greatest outdoor fashion events.

Here I've put together some pieces from various designers in honor of these amazing events that Melbourne seem to do so well.  Of course expression comes in many forms and for me, isn't always about keeping in the lines as you'll see by my unorthodox combination's.

Well my attempt to have guests on my couch, figuratively speaking, (see previous posts) has fallen on it's ass. That's what you get when you're a 'has been' or perhaps 'a never was'. No-one wants to play anymore. lol The offer still stands however.

PS - I'm still sick. Cold has turned into bronchitis dammit.

Out And About With Chalice - Lurani Fashion Show

Isn't it always the way?  You plan your SLocial life and then the grid doesn't want to play.  Such was my luck today when I was preparing to attend the Lurani Fashion Show produced by Maritima Inc.  I was styling an outfit and as I always do before entering a lag filled situation, turned down my graphics and cleared cachet.  Upon re-logging I just couldn't get rid of my 'boxy' look.  Despite 'RenderVolumeLodFactor' being turned up, my hair looked like a set of kids building blocks not to mention my feathers were less than billowy.  Not known for my patience, swearing seemed the only thing to make me feel better.  Nonetheless I arrived at the fashion show while still in progress.

My outfit for the fashion show.  I'm still spitting out  feathers.

Turning up wearing predominantly Lurani, I was thrilled to see the viewing gallery full and the models gorgeous.

I loved the collection and encourage you all to drop in to say hi to Gisele Mubble and check out the pieces. Great show Gisele, Maritima and models. It just makes me wish I had more time in SL...I'd go to the opening of an envelope you know.

Lurani Fashion Show - October 23 at 6pm SLT.

Covergirl And Friends.

Will someone slap me out of my black and white phase? I couldn't resist this floaty little dress and/or top from Covergirl that I picked up the other day. Simply called 'Dona', I felt black flares were in order along with my old faithful Bitch Booties from Stiletto Moody and my new Maitreya hair called 'Kim'. Here is another fabulous Septum Essentials bag called 'Starbow' that is black with gold hardware. Lastly but never least, I am wearing Isolde skin from Exodi that was available last week for a steal from The Dressing Room. Stunning skin - dewy and fresh as spring.

The End Of Fabulous Fashion With Angie Mornington. How Sad.

Chalice is very sad tonight with the breaking news that Fabulous Fashion, produced by Perfect World Productions, has taped its last show. Read here.

I was an avid fan of Angie Mornington and enjoyed seeing friends and SL residents I hadn't yet met feature on her show. The last episode presented by Kay Fairey has unearthed yet another side to Kay's already bulging repertoire of talents. Brilliant job Kay.

I realize that SL is an ever changing environment and that nothing is forever but I'm not quite ready to say bye bye to Fab Fashion.

Best of luck to Angie, Paisley and Bliss in your future endeavors. You are a group of women who have definitely made a dent in SL entertainment.

A tear.

I Put Out A Pumpkin But It Baked In The Sun.

I've never celebrated Halloween but to get into the spirit, I did decorate my garden with a few strategically placed pumpkins. Unfortunately, the Aussie heat baked them to a crisp. While I appreciate the beauty of Autumn, we down South are heading toward Summer and that means bikini's, sunblock and waxing (definitely not in that order).

To mark the fact that it's going to be 30C (86F) today, Chalice went out to buy a new pair of kini's and was elated to find these from Cover Girl, another gem from the Japan Canvas sim. With cute prim bows at the hips and cleavage, the muted tones, the straight seams and the cut, they look very realistic.

Chalice In Wonderland Blog

What I love about these bikini's called Vague in Citron is they cover of multitude of pixel sins particularly around the derriere. These aren't dental floss but they're still very sexy and I love the lines.

Chalice In Wonderland Blog

No camel toe here girls. See how it sits on your Tra La La?

Chalice In Wonderland Blog

Unlike the thong look, there's no ugly canyon butt, just two round, juicy peaches ripe for the picking.

Chalice In Wonderland Blog

So well done fnzo Takacs, the designer from Cover Girl. You nailed this swimwear.

I gatecrashed the Costa Rica Sim's for this photo set but in the end they sent Vic Zuzu down to escort me off the premises. Luckily for me he tripped on his flip flops and I got away.

PS - I'm sending out a big Happy Rezz Day message to my SL friend, EnCore Mayne. Four years and counting. Go you sweet thing.

I'm Frilled.

RL me has a shocking cold and while I'm in bed taking all the TLC I can get, I could just about muster a small, restful shopping adventure. I stumbled upon the Japan Canvas sim and discovered three new shops...Yorim's Factory, MNK*Shop and Septem Essentials for handbags.

Even among my dirty tissues, lemon and honey drink and hacking cough, I put together this little number that brings together feminine frills with the starkness of black and white to create an edgy yet feminine look.

Chalice In Wonderland Blog
An updo and no earrings creates a great frame for this high neck shirt with oversize neck bow.

Chalice In Wonderland Blog
I love the frill in the shirt peaking under the vest. These MNK*Shop Capri's follow on the theme with a delicate frill at the cuff.

Chalice In Wonderland Blog
Cute even from the back. Heels from Maitreya Gold colored black/white and the Septem fringe handbag all add to the monochrome look that manages to remain feminine.

Do go check out the Japan Canvas sim and in particular, these shops.

All from Japan Canvas Sim:
Shirt, Vest and Bow: Chiffon Frilly Blouse and Vest by Yorim's Factory
Pants: Milky White Capri's from MNK*Shop
Bag: Sway Fringe Handbag in Silver by Septem Essentials

Other honorable mentions:
Hair: Mirabella in Natural Blond from Maitreya
Skin: Lola in Sunkissed from LeLutka
Nails: J's Main Store
Shoes: Espirit Xtd by Maitreya Gold
Bracelet: Fairy Tail

As I tend to do, shots taken at the sim.

Be My Guest On Chalice In Wonderland.

Chalice In Wonderland Blog

Without you, SL would be a boring, bland place to live. It doesn't matter what you do in SL, it seems to me that the biggest commonality among us is the desire is to show our personal style through our avatars. For most of us, fashion is a massive component of our existence in SL and I would love to give those of you who want to 'show off', a forum to do so.

Chalice in Wonderland would love to feature residents who want to promote their beauty and style to a wider audience than just their friends. If you're looking to be discovered as a model, stylist, designer, anything at all, here is an opportunity to be seen over the fashion feeds. This is all about you and your message to the SL community so take some beautiful photo's and send them to me.

How do I feature on Chalice In Wonderland?

  • Create a note card and ensure you have your SL name in the title so I know who you are.
  • Cut and paste the questions below on to the note card and answer them.
  • I will use between 1 and 3 pictures (no bigger than 1024 x 1024).
  • Attach the pictures to the note card, making sure they are full permissions.
  • Send in-world to Chalice Carling.

That's it darlings. Let me show beautiful you on my blog and let the world share your story and bask in your fabulousness..

Last week she dropped a couple of outfits to me and I'm always thrilled to review her wares. Sorry it has taken a week Gisele.
