Look For Beauty And Ye Shall Find It

That's my thought for today. My darling dad used to say 'I don't find faults in people because I don't look for them'. He lived that way and his life was all the richer because of it. I unfortunately didn't inherit his beautiful disposition but I do try to think this way. It was easy for him but I do struggle...a lot. Regardless, it's a state of mind and you have to work at it if you choose to be that kind of person. While it would be utterly boring to live in a 'Stepford' world, the least we can do is allow each other the right to voice our opinions without ridicule, name-calling or labeling because it just makes people feel like crap. Something to aspire to perhaps? Don't get me wrong, I've taken cheap shots but my conscience slaps me in the head pretty hard and I always regret not taking the time to humanely say why I disagree.

Anyway, with that in mind I found a beautiful place to take some photo's...I went looking for beauty and I found it. It's a place called Regenboog at Kook. Amazing lighting and ambiance.

Today I'm wearing three new things. The amazing Allure shoes from Maitreya Gold in Brown, the new Siri hair also from Maitreya and a 10L outfit called Porto Cevo from Glam Affair.  I have to say that above all the shoe's in SL, Maitreya Gold's are my all time faves.  Salience, Espirit, Shanti, Allure and all the rest, there's nothing that comes between me and my Maitreya's...except perhaps a little tinea.  I so wanted the Allure with the socks but I thought I'd get more wear from these because I so love the Maitreya foot.

Click to read my affirmations.

Sit, look around you. Isn't it beautiful?

I'd be really happy to include a link to your blog in mine so please just send me a message with your URL. We should all support each other because really, WE are the feeds and perform a wonderful service to those residents who want the drum on who, what, when and where.

What's The Difference Between SL & The Titanic?

Nothing....today they are both old hulks at the bottom of the ocean.

Please hurry up and fix it...I'm in the mood for some Maitreya hair shopping. It seems to be getting worse dudes. For the love of all things pixel, can't you do something??

PHEW that felt good. Just needed to share.  Move on, nothing to see here.

Orange Krush With A Dose Of Flu

Pass me the tissues and rub my chest with vapor rub (insert brand name common to your country), I'm sick. Too sick to go to work and not wishing to share my germs with everyone, I stayed in bed and woke at 12pm.

Anyway (sniff, sniff) I thought I'd get up for a bit and post these pics I took yesterday. I picked this little orange treasure up from the Glam Affair 10L sale. I thought this would make me stand out on the dance floor and partial to anything orange, I snapped it up. The beautiful Shyayn Lusch, Miss "Shag" herself and the creator of The Digital Doll blog, sent me copies of her new Stoned Love Crystal Jewelery Sets. Absolutely brilliant they are. Not only is there a color to match every outfit, the pieces fit like a glove. There's a choice of big and giant earrings and necklace with matching ring. If you haven't been to her shop Shag, you absolutely must. You haven't decorated until you do.

To me, this outfit has a certain kitschy appeal that I'm rather partial to and if I was a roller derby babe, this is the outfit I'd wear.  My performance name would be "The Orange Krush".

These pis were taken at a gorgeous sim called Heaven's Lake. Unfortunately I didn't have time to explore and basically these were taken close to the landing spot but I encourage you to take a look. It was lovely and with your WL magic, could produce some stunning photo's.

Life Ain't Always Black And White...But Today It Is

I have come to the realization that Chalice needs to dance more. I used to love going out with the girls dancing and listening to music. I dug deep and found my Huddles EZ Animator Hud and running through my dances, I just went blah. Old, boring and done to death. It definitely needed an update so decided to see what was out there beyond my old haunts. Early in my search I found Studio 4D Dance Animations and I really liked them so purchased a few...ok a lot. The mix of old and new wasn't working for me so I dumped the old one's and my hud is filled with all my newies. I went off to GOL to test them out and threw on this concoction of pieces that I really do like as a wacky combo.

I headed over to a sim called Innsmouth, a New England Coastal Town abandoned in the 1930's. It's dark, moody and has infinite possibilities for pics.

I do have a penchant for looking like an angel but dressing like a devil. While I love elegant, I do have this weakness for taking my look to the nth degree and seeing how far I can go. I have to say that technically, this skirt is probably one of the most skilled pieces of prim work I've seen. Unfortunately I tried to find the shop again, Susie's, but the sim isn't accepting visitors. It was created by a Japanese designer named Asuka Reinard and if the doors are indeed shut, that's a shame. I know this skirt isn't everyone's cuppa but mark my words, it moves beautifully and fits so well. Clap for Asuka.

Yip, Yip, Hooray - I Just Got Myself A Segway

Funny how one thing leads to another and before you know it, you stumble across something you may never have seen before. This happens to me all the time in SL. I go off looking for one thing and end up somewhere I never knew existed or somewhere I hadn't intended to visit.

If I retrace my steps, I started off looking at !lamb where I saw a cigarette in an ashtray as a prop. Remembering that I'd been looking for one of these I inspected and headed off to a place called Shinsaibashi. The item wasn't for sale in the shop so wandered around the sim and found his awesome Segway from a place called Wing Factory. Now I'd seen these Segway's in Abu Dhabi at the hotel where we stayed. Staff were zipping round on them and I would have given my Louis Vuitton Speedy for a ride. No, actually I wouldn't.  Anyhow here's the next best thing...a SL Segway. I swear it's the best 50L's I've ever, ever spent.  Now I don't know why but when I speed around on it, I think I must be going too fast even for lag to catch me...it's magic.

The Segway has a color change script and also height/position adjustment scripts. You wear it on your left hand and because Cha is so tall, I did need to fiddle a bit to raise the bar. It also has a fly mode for those times where you need a lift. Just brilliant. The fact that it changes color to match my outfits totally won me over.

To celebrate the occasion of my test drive, I thought 'Who can I wear?' There was no choice, it had to be Yip. four Yip, the altruistic creator/designer of some of the most inspired, amazing pieces I've seen in SL has given me so much joy over the years. I wanted fantasy, feminine and fun so thew on Yip's anouska outfit.

I found this amazing sim called Minute Papillon at Belle Vent to take these pics. Played around WL and I must say, I'm loving this series.

We have some talented blogger's who do this ultra-feminine, whimsical style so very well and I'm very much drawn to it especially when I'm feeling mellow.  Thank you to the designers who made up this, one of my favorite looks.

Attack Of The Killer Tomoto

Talk about great minds! SL's resident Betty, Lizzie Lexington featured a gorgeous set of pics wearing clothes from Tomoto. About an hour before I read that, I had styled an outfit to blog also wearing something from Tomoto. I discovered that label on one of my shopping treks and thought I'd share one of the outfits I purchased from Tomoto's designer, Tomo Wachter. The outfit I'm wearing is called 'tricot fraise' and is a richly textured, floaty short and top set with matching bonnet.

My inspiration for this outfit was my darling friend Vixie Rayna who so, so kindly sent me a gift of shoes from LeeZu's Courtisane range called La Sauvage. These are something quite special and come in a stunning array of colors. Thank you Vixie - you are too kind and I love you big time.Today  I'm wearing the Mauve pair and the fringing is to die for.

Jumping on the Glam Affair style train with other discerning fashion lovers, I'm wearing the Sofia gift skin, a mystical and dramatic make up. Glam Affair are doing such great things, particularly in their clothing range, it's exciting to see what's next. The recently released 7 Elements collection is fab-tastic.

And of course, when you need big, sculptured hair, look no further than 3636 and dianny3636 Aeon. Perfect for photo shoots and runway work, these gems can take an outfit from zero to a hundred with a click.

And how about this sim eh? Isn't it gorgeous? It's called Land of Hope and it's AMAZING. Here's your TP and I'm sure you will have lots of fun there taking pics. The name of the place is ANNANURIKIBA-THE COCOON.

The business end:
Skin: Sofia (gift skin) from Glam Affair
Eyes: Expressive Eyes in Big Grey by Nany Merlin
Hair: Kara in Red by 3636
Lashes: Snuggle by Ema's Secret

Bag: Croissant Satchel in Magenta created by Pearlie Pedro (unfortunately MM is no longer available unless perhaps you ask nicely)
Necklace: Violet by tesoromio
Ring: Bloom from Flirt

Check Out My Cock Swan.

Here I am in my guest bedroom at home. My NotSoBad Dubai house is my favorite place to be in SL and I try to spend time in each of the rooms appreciating the craftwosmanship of this build. The second bedroom actually has color changing walls and today I chose brown to match my outfit.  I actually fitted out a bathroom in this bedroom as quite frankly, no house is a home without a bathroom.  Unfortunately I didn't pop in my toilet suite so I guess I'll just have to use the shower...ewwwwwwwwwwwww.  Chalice said that, not me.

Here's another mash up of some of my favorite things built around the quirky Cock Swan necklace from Creamshop.  It's actually a real fav of mine as I love swans and I love c......ahem never mind.

I think what I love most about these shots is the interplay of stunning textures from the pants to the boots to the bedlinen, walls and floor boards. I remember I used to hate brown as a kid but thank god I grew up and began to appreciate the earthy, organic specialness of this color.

Here's the complete list of what Chalice is wearing:

Hair: Veruca 2 in Swedish tone by Truth

I Put The Tart In Tartan

Want to have a fling with me?  Highland Fling that is.  I bring you an unorthodox look that came about when I found these unusual tights by Karla Marama from Pritty.  I spotted them on the ZombiPopCorn Hunt and being an avid collector of various forms of hosiery (such a quaint word), I thought these were quite different.  Great job Ms Marama.

I immediately went for Creamshop's Grey Tartan Waist-cloth with adorable waist band holding tassel's and giant metal anchor. I love the fringing on this piece and the asymmetrical hem sexes it up a bit.

So as not to flash more than I need downstairs, I found some black glitch pants from another outfit that resembled shorts and teamed it with a long sleeve classic cardigan from Ibizarre.

I found this lovely Victorian Choker designed by Siyu Suen from Illusions. In her profile she says she designs 'masks and pretty things' and this lovely piece proves that she does. I added Maitreya Gold Espirit heels in black and one of Truth's treasures, Valerie in the Swedish tone. Who loves ya baby??

I did particularly want to again thank Mr Tricky Boucher, the life force behind Belleza Skins. Not only has he consistently produced amazing skins, he was very kind to me this week and in my brief conversation with him, I discovered a humble, generous person who appears to get such joy out of his work and from continually improving his skills and his product. In all honesty, Belleza and the Belle line was the first skin in SL that I put on and felt that every single inch of it from head to toe was quality and just seemed to work for Chalice. So Tricky, thank you.  I'm wearing Elle (of course) in Fair Make Up # 11.

I have an overwhelming need to poke you all.

I'm A Lady Goddamn It.

I wanted to show you a couple of jewelery items from upcoming designer Miah McAuley (Tik Tok) and to advise she is part of the Alternative Fair that commences on 22nd of April.

I don't know Miah but we have spoken in IM and I just love her genuine and earnest attempts to make a success of Tik Tok so the least I can do is give a shout out about her when I can. It's heartening to see various bloggers reviewing her new release skin, Lola, but I thought I would wear her jewelery pieces and start from there building an outfit. I must say I really like this look. It's  simple but elegant IMO and something I would definitely wear in RL. The necklace and earrings are called Magic and the piece placed on the derriere is called Damn Hot Gemstone Body Art. Ever so cute.

I found a review copy sent to me by the amazing Sascha Frangilli from Sascha's Designs, a versatile little number called ZieZo with various skirt options and a huge variety of colors.  God knows where Sascha gets her inspiration and she designs so many items that I can't imagine how she comes up with names....Chalice, Chalice, Chalice if you ever run out.

Chalice is definitely a blond. I do try other colors but they just don't look right on this face that seems made for blond hair. While sometimes I think she is kind of boring looking, it's how I identify myself in SL and have now given up trying to find that unique look that everyone seems to want. Anyway here are the rest of the pics and take a look at my bum signage.

The Designers:
Hair: Mila in Swedish from Truth
Skin: Elle in Fair by Belleza (group gift)
Eyes: Expressive Eyes in Blue #4 by Nany Merlin
Dress and Gloves: ZieZo in black by Sascha's Designs (work with Empire Skirt)
Necklace and Earrings: Magic in Black by Miah McAuley from Tik Tok
Bodyart on derriere: Damn Hot by Miah McAuley from Tik Tok
Shoes: Salience from Maitreya Gold
Purse: Black Sequin Clutch Purse from Red Rabbit Boutique

Thanks for reading and I'll be back soon with another post.

OK, Who Farted?

I know ok, I know.  I went to an all girls school so this humor (or lack thereof) is entirely not my fault.

I was walking the Zombie trail and dropped in on #63 when I noticed the name of the sim. Then I checked the LM and noticed the name of the store. OMG guys, we have a Tart at Fart.

I had to take pics to celebrate the occasion. /me wanders away wondering if they have any land for sale. I would just love to invite my friends to Fart.

Please excuse my gear.  Its left over from 'Bully Me And I'll Whack You One' Day.

Here is a link to FART (chortles like a 12 year old)

Back, Crack and Flap - My Ecclectic Thoughts

Pardon my back but I'm sitting at my desk thumping out another post after finally completing my job with AVENUE for the La Dolce Vita Fashion Show being held at AVENUE at GOL on Saturday 17th 1PM.  You all know AVENUE do it better so go and see some wonderful Italian inspired fashion and enjoy the after show party in the A Lounge.  Rusch, Jesika and the gang never disappoint.

I've started the ZombiPopcorn Hunt and must say I'm having fun.  Have you ever started a hunt at the same time as other people you don't know?  I have and I seem to get into this unspoken competition mode where I start racing the others without them knowing.  But I think they're also trying to race me too.  We stalk around the shops trying to covertly click on the popcorn trying not to attract attention...it's so funny.  Anyway I mucked up the hints.  I skipped a hint at LeeZu's so thought I was looking for furniture.  When we all landed together, I laughed like Snidely Whiplash when they all took off toward the main store while I hung back and flew to LeeZu's furniture shop.  I thought the hint was Furniture Matters so I was positive I'd find it in the shop.  I looked absolutely everywhere and eventually checked the note card again only to find the hint was actually Hold My Hand.  By the time I realized this and feeling embarrassed, I limped into LeeZu's main shop to find they'd all gone.

Now on to the crack part of my post.  I was always told crack was bad for you but it seems in SL it's everywhere.  Around every corner, in every shop I stumble across crack in all it's forms and I seriously fear for the future of those of you who succumb to its lure.   Being the good SLitizen I am, I felt compelled to document its insidious grasp on so many of our residents hoping that there is some form of support group where you can slowly, slowly raise your pants to a healthy level.  You might note from the pictures I managed to take that some people are forgetting to dress when they go out.  Some are even wearing their reproductive organs on the outside of their clothes.  Oh God spare us all.
Coming to a close, I felt the need to vent my dislike for the dress flap.  You know the one.  That little piece of mostly ill-fitting texture that fills in the gap between the thighs.  If the dress is black and it's well done, its not so bad but I've always wondered why some look okay and others are downright terrible.  I'm sure other people aren't fond of it either so is there any way to improve the FLAP?  I say FIX THE FLAP.  Of course I can't fix it, I can barely put on my lashes.

See, my flap is very noticeable.  I'm wearing a new release skin designed by Miah McAuley from Tik Tok called Lola in the pale shade.  The skin is called Bad Date and I simply love the name given I've come home looking just like this when dates have gone wrong.  Miah is working extremely hard and is improving her product with each release.  I will be talking to Miah about the possibility of her perhaps working on an even lighter skin tone for those of you who like their skin more translucent.  I haven't tried on the other tones essentially because I stay with the one shade.  I would encourage you all to go try on some of Miah's demo's.

Okay, enough already.  I'm off for a swim.

Don't look too close.  I need a wax.
