Very Meme Monday - "My Three Wishes"

Another meme meets Monday from the wonderful mind of Strawberry Singh.  Well this one I had to think long and hard about because I'm greedy and only three wishes was a stretch.

1. I wish for the fun days when I first joined.
This makes me a little sad because I've become somewhat of a recluse since my blog has become all consuming.  I wish for the days when I was modeling all over the place working with amazing people who made SL such fun.  When we would discover things together and laugh for ages or be in awe of something beautiful.  At learning new skills and sharing them with my then wide circle of friends who would wax lyrical about you when really, it wasn't anything much that you did but that the importance of encouragement was the impetus of your friendships.  When all you could hear was the 'ding' of IM's and you couldn't keep up with the conversations.  The days when something fantastic was released and the grapevine was humming with friends letting you know and going shopping together oooo'ing and ahhh'ing all over the grid.  It was pure fun and something that could only occur in a certain time because everything was new and you were establishing your identity in SL.  In a way, it felt like growing up again and you can only do that once in SL.  I'm probably making no sense because perhaps its only me who feels like this.  My fondest memories of the early days was enlisting all different photographers to take pics of me for my portfolio and styling a gazillion looks hoping they would think I was remarkably different and waiting for them to arrive to share with friends.  I still have the folders of my modeling friends where we would share our newest pics and support each other when we auditioned or made the cut.  Seems sort of silly now, but back then, it was fabulous.

2. I wish I had Chalice's body/bodies and wardrobe.
In RL I do really love fashion.  I do have a pretty liberal wardrobe of clothing, shoes, accessories and jewelery but if I had Chalice's body, my god I'd be unstoppable.  I'd probably dress and re-dress ten times a day and never have my head out of my closet, only to go out showing off.  Then again, she is way over six feet tall with a clothes horse figure so its pretty unattainable in reality.

3. I wish that the crotch area didn't distort clothing.
I don't have an answer for why this is but it seems the minute you open your legs to any degree, the texture distorts and looks horrible.  Its the one area I need to fix up in Photoshop the most.  It doesn't happen with mesh items so much though.  Also on this subject, it would be great if one had the ability to lower the alpha layer with mesh clothing to ensure the legs don't poke out the dress. Is this even possible?

Oh and one of my pics was chosen to to make up the header of BloggingSL.  What a thrill and thank you so much for picking it Alianna.  Such a lovely surprise to wake up to.

I Got Mojo And I'm Using It.

Don't you just love it when you find a fashion item unexpectedly and you end up falling head over heels with it?  That's what happened when I went to LouLou & Co the other day and happened upon this AMAZING dress with accompanying belt.  I popped it on when I got home and went 'WOW, that's so ME in both lives'.

I chose the purple one and think the color and pattern are stunning.  I also found something I'd been hankering after for ages - lace cycling pants.  I got my wish when I visited Fishy Strawberry and couldn't grab them quick enough.

The cycling pants shown here are in the Champagne color.  Bubbly anyone?  I found these gorgeous heels called 'Marilyn Sandals' in Burgundy at Gos.  I nabbed this cute 'Ostrich Leather Bag' in Cherry at Zenith.

I couldn't be happier with how this look turned out.  A real mish mash of wonderful designers to be sure but that's what I love most...stamping your own personal style on all of it.

Now here's a bit of fashion news - be sure to check out Cajsa Lilliehook's wonderful new blog called 'The A to Z of Fashion Writing'.  It is going to be a godsend for bloggers and with contributors from the blogging world adding their spin, may just become the go-to resource for savvy fashion bloggers.  To share it around, make sure you add it to your links page of your blog.

Have a lovely, fashion-filled day sweeties.

There's Something Fishy About My Lingerie.

Chalice lies in sweet repose with her new stunning lingerie from Fishy Strawberry.  I visited Fishy the other day and couldn't help but notice the most beautiful lingerie all around me.  I mean it stood out as being original and of excellent quality.  Then I thought, do a lingerie post and show the sexy people of SL what ya got.

I chose two sets that I fell in total love with, the darker one being 'Ignition' and the dusky pink called 'Desiderio'.  For those who love to look fabulous under your clothing, I urge you to go look at Fishy Strawberry's range.

DESIDERIO

IGNITION

I love that you can walk around SL in your smalls and no body bats an eye lid.  Speaking of which, I got caught out this morning hanging the washing on the line in my bra and undies by a visitor.  I can tell you eyelids were batting left, right and center such was the unexpected sight that greeted my friend.  Let me assure you my bra and undies looked nothing like these unfortunately.

Why So Blue?

Actually I am a bit blue, as in I'm feeling the blues.  I offered to look after my best friends dog for the day and he killed a pigeon in my garden.  The pigeon kind of got stuck in my pond so I rescued it and it flew away, or so I thought.  Next thing, my bf's dog had the poor darling bird in its mouth.  It was dead so there was a small comfort that I didn't have to nurse it whilst it died.  I hate it when things like this happen in my haven.  I did give the pigeon a burial and said a few words but I can't help but think a pigeon is looking for its mate right now.  God here I go again crying.....I know its all part of the grand plan but I tend to feel things like this so deeply.

Sniff, sniff...on to the fashion.

My look today is a flowery, spring top and pants from Revanche, a shop situated at Fi*Friday and the Promenade sim.  I'm a sucker for soft, powdery blue as a color so couldn't pass this sweet top that reminds me of shabby chic material that Rachel Ashwell would covet.

I purchased the fat pack of Glam Affair's 'Amberly Petal Edition' skins because they are so dynamic and the one I'm wearing is called 'Butterfly'.  I know I'll be wearing these in many future posts.

My name is Chalice and I'm a Mandala-holic.  Yes, somehow I found myself at the store again snapping up this and that.  Shown are the 'Anuttra' rings and 'Soul' necklace.  Is there help for me?  Maybe I should follow a self exclusion process and give the owner my picture so I can be ejected if I can't resist another shopping trip?

I brought out my 'Lolita Espadrilles' from Gos for another airing.  I love these shoes so much and the hud is in my opinion, brilliant.  You click the link and it takes you to a vast list of skin makers in order to match the skin easily.  Very clever Gos.

Whilst looking on Flickr I found a gorgeous picture of the sim Ocho Tango and logged in to TP there straight away.  Its also the home of DaD Design.  These pics are taken there - its really beautiful so go take a look.

Hope you all have an awesome day.

SHI May Be The Reason I Survive.

I woke up this morning (only 2 hours ago Aussie time) to a cup of Nespresso cappuccino (yes George Clooney, you're not the only star indulging), a slice of banana bread and these pictures to edit.  I had taken them last night and couldn't wait to get them up on the blog.  Gosh darlings, this is one of my favorite outfits ever.  I found the top and pants at SHI, a store I'm sorry to say, I hadn't visited before.

I just adore the amazing Japanese inspired top with bow upon bow tucking it in at the waist.  Bold peacock feathers dominate the pattern and how sexy is the off the shoulder detail?

I added the Nocturn Orchyds Fascinator hat from LaGyo which I think compliments the outfit without dominating.

I don't know about you, but I always labor over my jewelry selection because I feel it can make or break an outfit.  I just couldn't find what I wanted in my inventory and ended up TP'ing all over the place but ended up at my old faithful, Mandala.  The earrings and bracelets were just what I envisioned so scooped them up quick smart.

I went for tangerine colored shoes from Kunglers called 'Morgana Pumps' in Coral.  I'm just thrilled with the look and to have found SHI, which in Chinese, represents rock.

I do laugh at myself when I begin styling an outfit.  People who see me must think - "OMG look at her dress sense" because I have on all sorts of things.  I just TP from home without even thinking what I must look like.  But in the end, its all worth it when I'm happy with my finished product.

There's Nothing Beige About Beige.

Well I have to say I love this look because of the wonderful detail in both the top (Tram) and shorts (Zenith).  There's an earthy femininity to it.

I love the folds and draping of the materials that work so well together.  I always try to look for this in the clothing I buy because it adds dimension to the overall look.  Today Chalice feels pretty.

I'm An Eclectica Girl.

Today I'm the mad hatter wearing a gorgeous creation by Tiffy Vella from Eclectica Jewelry.  This hat is called 'Solaria Cloche' shown in Tangerine tones that match with a jewelry set of the same name.  The hat includes the hair in the colors ash, blonde, brunette, auburn and black  As you can see, the necklace matches the embellishment on the hat.  The 'Solaria' jewelry set contains earrings, rings and a necklace with the option of gold or silver metal.  Pop along to Eclectica to view the wide range of colors that are available in both the hat and jewelry.

The coat and long cardigan are available from LAQ...just perfect for cold days.  I found the tartan tights from Maitreya.

I am always honored to blog any product from Eclectica Jewelry because I believe in the quality of the pieces and want this label to be on the tips of everyone's lips.

I've got two wee vents that will make me feel better.  I purchased some mesh pants from a vendor at Fi*Friday the other day and popped them on and they're grey.  Nothing I do will bring up the texture.  I send a pic and a message...nothing back.  The creator has nothing in their profile but a link to Marketplace.  Seriously, if you aren't going into SL much, say so.  Let your shoppers know how to get on to you.

I purchased some boots from a well known label only to have no ability to resize them apart from stretch, which as we know, can be tricky.  They are miles too small and even when I reduced the size of my legs, the boots are still too small.  Surely a resize script in L$400 boots isn't too much to ask...or is it?

The Meme Of All Meme's - Why Do I Blog??????

Hey it's Berry Meme Monday don't ya know!  I love this one about blogging so thought I'd share the space where it all happens.

So here are my answers -

1. How long have you been blogging?
I started Chalice In Wonderland some time in 2008 then stopped.  I resurrected it in July 2009.  Half of me loves doing it and the other half worries about the time I spend doing it thinking I could be devoting time to something else.  I reason however, that its a creative outlet because I have a RL job that requires an entirely different persona.

2. Why did you start blogging?
I initially started it when I was a contestant in Miss Virtual World representing my home country, Australia.  I wanted to share the journey which I did but at the time my ex-husband was getting pissy about me being in SL so I quit.  I took it up again in 2009 because I really did need a little me time and it did help me unwind for an hour or two in the evening.  I figured my ex-husband loved to watch sports on TV so I could have a Second Life. lol.  I used to be very mindful about the time I spent doing SL things but now I'm single, its not the issue it once was.

3. How many times a week do you post an entry?
Probably around 5 to 6 times a week.  I do fluctuate depending on spare time and inclination.

4. How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis?
Gawd it would have to be a lot.  Not sure of numbers but I do have a lot of favorites.  I use the feeds to keep up with who's doing what.

5. Do you comment on other people's blogs?
Yep I sure do.  I love to receive comments and I love to give them for posts I appreciate.  Lets face it, we don't blog hoping no one will read it, so validation from time to time is nice.  I also get a buzz when designers come on and let you know they know you've blogged their items.  I think as a community it would be great if we could give encouragement to each other through comments.

6. Do you keep track of how many visitors you have?
Yes via my counter, Blogger stats and Feedjit widget.  I unfortunately lost my original counter so have started again.  I wish I had more visitors though but that's just me being greedy.

7. Did you ever regret a post that you wrote?
Yes...on my original blog I got involved with something I never should have and it kind of blew up in my face.  That taught me to really think about what I post and not use my fashion blog as a soap box for SL issues that really don't concern me.

8. Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog?
This is a hard one.  I don't think I really put myself out there in either life so probably not.  The open book I initially was in SL has closed to a certain extent and I mainly focus on promoting fashion items and designers.  One of my favorite bloggers is Emerald Wynn and I really love how she perfectly mixes her SL avi exploits and RL persona into her blog.  It's an interesting format but she's a wonderful writer and commentator on life in general which is why it works so well.

9. Do you blog under your real name?
My SL real name but not my real real name. lol

10. Are there topics that you would never blog about?
The traditional ones like politics and religion...no, no, never.  I wouldn't blog about other people's choices in SL or expose anyone.  Its just not me dishing any dirt so yes, anything controversial I steer away from.   BUT I have an admission.  I do like a bit of muck raking so perhaps I'm as bad as those that do it.

11. What is the theme/topic of your blog?
Basically just showing off fashion items and talking about those who design them.  I find it funny that while so many other blogs support all these events/charities/causes etc., I just keep on buying clothes and blogging about them.  The pressure I'd feel in being an official blogger for 'blah, blah' would be too much for me to handle I think.  I'd be nervous I wouldn't do them justice.

12. Do you have more than one blog?  If so, why?
No only this one.

13. What have you found to be the benefits of blogging?
Well for me it's certainly not getting the drum on new releases or free clothing?  That's a rarity for me.  I think the benefits are creating looks from random pieces and trying to make them appealing.  Whether I'm successful, well that's not for me to say.

14. So why do you continue to blog?
Because there's nothing else I can do in SL.  I wouldn't know the first thing about actually designing a clothing item and I don't build...I just dress my dolly.  To me its essentially role playing being a clothes horse  Boring as shit aren't I?  lol

With all the penis talk going on at the moment, I thought I'd add to the drama and wear my COCK top.  Cock-a-doodle-do darlings.

Did You Know I'm A Twin?

Chalice and her evil twin, Malice, donned wonderful gowns from Sascha's Designs for an evening of dancing and flirting.  The Damatjo dress garnered lots of praise from admirers but the angelic Chalice, wearing Tan, won the battle when she went home with the catch of the day.

It wasn't all bad news though.  Malice bunkered down at home with a gluten free pizza, bottle of shiraz and an episode of her favorite show, House of Cards.

Sascha's beautiful gown is available in black, magenta, pink, purple, red, royal blue, seafoam, tan and white with a huge variety of combinations that includes a stunner of a hat.

Let There Be Peace.

Well what a terrible week its been for the dear people of America, in particular, those in Boston.  One can barely imagine the terror they have experienced allegedly at the hands of the young, misguided suspects.  We may never know the real motives behind it and really, there are no excuses for people executing such carnage but I can't help but wonder how people so young manage to be filled with such hatred.  This world is becoming a very scary place indeed and its becoming more apparent that each of us needs to be on heightened alert at all times.  Its no wonder that many of us turn to virtual worlds to escape reality for a while where we can create an existence of our own choosing.  My love and blessings go out to all those people affected and to the helpers who put their lives on the line to put a stop to the horror.

That said, on to what I love, fashion.  I was invited to join the Xia fashion group on Flickr and made my way over to Marketplace to check out their goods.  My eye was immediately drawn to this skirt which is actually called 'Symbols Kilt'.  I loved the design and purchased it.  Xia has a lot of uni sex clothing so this kilt can be worn by males and females.  I really love it but the only criticism for me anyway, is the alpha skirt layer could be longer to stop my legs poking through.  The skirt would work better when moving if they could attend to this issue and lower the alpha layer to just above the skirt hem.  Regardless, the quality of the piece is excellent and I particularly love the waist belt attached to the mesh skirt.

I found the lace top that is part of a skirt and top outfit at KANOU.  I love the shoulders, sleeves and flower attachment and I think it gives a lovely line to the upper body.

The shoes are a group gift from Pelle so a simple add to the group will get you these.  I'm wearing my SLINK hands with nails called 'Black Drama' from ASS.  I've been dying to wear my new necklace from Celoe called 'Abihall'.

I hope everyone has a super week and please, stay safe.

The Givers Of SL

I had a really good time putting this together.  Half my attention was on purchasing pieces and the other on discovering some new places I hadn't been before.  In amongst that I was perusing the feeds and thought I'd mention two people and their blog who really add such positivity to our blogging community.  Casja Lillihook and Gidge Uriza's blog, It's Only Fashion, take the time to give credit to bloggers when they feel their artistry and creativity deserve merit.  I think its a lovely idea and I really enjoy their 'Fast Five' posts immensely. With so much going on in SL and the vast amount of information that bombards us, its so easy to miss some really special posts.  Their commentary makes me stop a moment and appreciate the talents among you all that in all sorts of ways, keeps me interested and engaged in SL.  Bravo Casja and Gidge.  I think that giving out bouquet's says a lot about the people that you are.

Now on to my outfit.  Oooo ahhhh, I'm in love with the top (Celoe) and pants (ElyMode) in this ensemble.  I don't know what Elysium Eilde of Elymode does with her textures because they are so polished and perfect.  All of her clothing are distinctive in that her entire collection is cohesive and you know it's Elymode.  To me this is quite rare in SL, because I don't often see a piece and know immediately who designed it.  She also creates awesome eye make up among many other things so even more reason to visit.

The ultra feminine mesh top is called 'Rhonda' from Celoe.  I love the russet colors and waist bow which like all Celoe items, sits so perfectly on the body and screams quality.

The bag, necklace and hair band are from Tram...I swear I can't stay away from that shop.  The shoes are the latest release from Maitreya Gold called 'Suave' which they certainly are.

From the feeds, I noticed this wonderful sim called 'Small Town Green' and headed there to take my snaps.  Seriously beautiful and well worth the time to slowly explore all the nooks and crannies.

Oh and I changed my blog interface just for a change.  Wish I was more creative because I know how I want it to look but can't quite get it there...YET.

Are you all looking forward to Monday?  Maybe Berry has another Meme for us??????

Do You Ever Think Of Me?

This is a post featuring the work of 7 Deadly Skins and the new release Spring mesh dress from KANOU.  Both are fabulous and I hope you like the styling.

Look 1 shows Chalice wearing Vanity skin in Tone 1 from 7 Deadly Skins and the Eva dress in blue and red by KANOU

In look 2 Chalice is wearing Envy skin in Tone 2 and the Eva dress in purple and yellow.

These skins are seriously great and the attention to detail particularly on the legs, hands and torso is amazing in my opinion.  Go grab yourself a demo, go home, stand on a pose stand and see for yourself.

I'm loving the sweet as pie Spring dresses from KANOU.  Apart from what I've shown, the other colors are pink/blue, green/purple, brown/green and blue/gold.  I mean that's six combinations to choose from!  I could be wrong, but I think the flowers are delicate pansies so what could be more SPRING than that?

Well that's it for now precious one's.  Go, go, go check out 7 Deadly Skins and KANOU.

A spot of shopping anyone?

It's Meme Berry Christmas - My Name

Berry's done another Meme and I'm in.

I had a sly ciggie while I was thinking of my answers.  A terrible habit I know but it's my second last vice other than enjoying a fine glass of  red.

  1. What’s your SL name? Chalice Carling
  2. What made you choose this name? God it's so far back for the old memory bank but I think I chose the sir name Carling first and then tried to think of another name starting with C.  I thought Chalice sounded nice plus I was probably drinking a glass of wine at the time which reminded me that wine was traditionally drunk from a chalice in the Biblical sense.  Chalice is also the name Jamaicans use for a bong, and is also an ancient symbol for a woman.  It is also the antiquated metaphor for the female urino-genital tract but please don't hold that against me.
  3. What’s your SL nickname, or what do most people call you? (if applicable) Either Cha or Cha Cha.  I always love the way Frolic Mills pronounces my name...like Chal-eee-ce.  Very cute.
  4. What’s your SL display name? Why do you choose to have one? (if applicable) I did just put Cha Cha as my display name.  Not sure why though.
  5. Do you like your SL name? Yes I do actually.  I really wouldn't mind if Chalice was my RL name.  My RL first name is very, very unusual and I've spent a life time correcting people with the pronunciation and spelling it, sometimes two or three times because people get lost half way through.  Turns out my name is a common name for a male in Jamaica.
  6. If you could change your SL name, what would it be? Blooming Wonderful.
  7. What’s the craziest/funniest SL name you’ve ever seen? Ayefarted On Yeu.  Eww I'd have to fart back.
  8. What’s the coolest (your favorite) SL name you’ve ever seen? I think it would have to be Crap Mariner.  I remember when I first knew of him and I just loved that name.  Actually now I wish I could be Crap Carling.
Now I better credit my stuff:

Hair: Sweet Iris by Boudoir

Lips: Deviant Vamp by Tuli
Eyes: IKON

Sorry I cannot give you SLURLS today but SL is broken and wouldn't bring up profiles at the time of publishing this post.  Bad SL.

Bottoms Up Baby.

You know I like a good frock...don't you love that word FROCK?  So quaint!  I found this at Chantkare and I love the muted autumn tones with a very interesting gathered V-neckline.  It looks feminine and floaty.  I simply could not pass by these fabulous Provence Riding Boots from Mon Tissu.

I wanted some edge so chose this wind swept do from Vanity Hair and a strong black lip (from ASS) and brow (from blackLiquid).

You like my bag?  It's from Purple Moon Creations and in the flesh, has the most intricate detail.

These poses are from Morgane Batista's box of poses.

I Just Wanna Feel This Moment.

Please excuse my rather picture laden post but I wanted to show you my look and some different scenes from the beautiful sim, Natural Mignon Colore.  The label Natural has its home base there so not only do you get to enjoy their wonderful clothes and adornments, you get to explore one of the most delightful landscapes where attention to detail abounds.

The hair decoration I'm wearing called 'Promise' was purchased from Natural.  I love the whimsical quality to it.  It was so cheap I practically stole it.

I've put together a real mixture today which centered around my new 'Bound' pants from ASS.  You haven't lived until you put some ASS on your ASS.  They're different and can be played down by removing the upper leg band and/or the lower leg attachments.

I took the top and thin belt from an outfit from Chantkare called 'Tricot'.  I adore the functional bag from Maitreya and gravitate to it often.  The cute little pointy toe flats are from Tram and have feather pom pom embellishments on each side.  I'm wearing another do from Tram called 'A810' in Creamy Yellow.

I just want to say for the gazzilionth time that its so wonderful to have such pretty hands thanks to SLINK.  The nail color is from the Lustre hud from ASS.

Finding sims like this in SL are the days that remind my why I keep playing Barbies.  Now if only I could find me a Ken.
